Building the Junka
OK, so it's not the top of my to-do list, but I needed to get my Mek Junka assembled in time to game with it, so I started in on it yesterday.
The base is a Razorback. I have assembled the sides/tracks, and joined them to the bottom hull plate with the rear door and the 'crew compartment divider' in place. I did consider removing or replacing the crew compartment divider detail - a bolter hung on the wall is just not Orky, but in the end I left it, as odds are it will never be seen.
I have a spare old Forge World Deffrolla that I purchased before the plastic sprue came out. This is very big and heavy, but should make for a very intimidating sight on the battlefield.
To make it fit, it needed to be widened a bit. I achieve this but using two 40mm bases, with holes in the middle to allow them to fit in between the sections of the rollas.
Having had all kinds of mounting and gluing trouble with this type of Deffrolla on Battle Wagons in the past, mostly due to the weight, I decided to magnetize the whole thing.
One of the simply awesome qualities of the Junka is the range of weapon options. To allow me to equip it a variety of ways, I decided everything would be modular and magnetised when possible. I thought about using the Battlewagon grot turrets for the big shootas, but they are a bit too large for the front turrets on the Razorback. To overcome this I build a new turret mount that could clip over the other mounts to hold bigger guns when needed.
I'm not 100% happy with it yet, so may keep tinkering.
This is my progress so far, after about two hours of work. More to come soon, as I need to model a drivers compartment, elevate the large rear turret, and add guns, guns and more guns. I want to build a custom Shokk Attack turret with a 'snotling hopper' feeding it, and also a Kustom Force Field antenna stack. In the mean time, here is the 'assembled' build in progress.

My Updated to-do list
Last year I posted a to-do list. Here it is, with some comments on how far I got:
1- Finish painting my Kastoral Novem themed terrain. Done, and a second wave done also.
2 - Paint the realm of battle board to match Two boards now done.
3 - Re-paint the bases on my Orks About 1/3rd of the way there.
4 - Paint my storm boyz, and any other units needed for my FOB Tourney list. Storm boyz are done, but there are new additions to my list that are being painted now.
5 - Highlight my Ork trucks and battlewagons No progress made here yet.
6 - Apply basing materials to my Dark Elves No progress here either
7 - Undercoat dark elves And thus no progress here.
So I did Ok, considering.... Items 1-4 are all done, however some new items came along which derailed the lower priority items (and by lower priority, I mean Warhammer Fantasy stuff).
So here's my new list of things to do:
Then once those items are done, I need to mold and cast bases for my Tyranids, get them all based, then get busy painting them all. -
