Ok, so I've completed the bases as per my last entry, and thought I'd provide the pics I promised. First, the bestial brown basecoat:
Then, the vomit brown drybrush, followed by a second drybrush of 1:1 vomit brown and skull white:
Overall I'm pretty happy - the effect I was after is certainly achieved, but....
Turns out, the brown and ochre paints that come with the large terrain kit are a little different. I may need to try those out next.
Cool. And the models look suitably menacing. I've just based my first models ever (Hormagaunts). I bought that GW kit with crushed slate and bits of Space Marine helmets in it. It worked quite well but seemed expensive for box of crushed stone and plastic debris. Can I ask what you used?
ReplyDeleteI used silica sand in two grades - course and fine, that I bought in 1 liter jars for about $10 each from mitre 10. Mixed it up 50/50 with PVA and 'plastered' it onto the bases before undercoating.
ReplyDeletecool. I'd do the same but I've just realised that my bases won't match. doh!
